Overview

Inside a structural repair

When a coach or bus takes a hard hit, the damage runs deeper than the panels. We measure the frame and body structure against factory dimensions, anchor the vehicle and straighten it back to manufacturer specification, and cut out and replace any steel that cannot be trued — so the vehicle is sound, aligned and safe to carry passengers again.

Damage measurement & assessment

Every structural job starts on the measuring system. We map the frame and body against the manufacturer’s factory dimensions to find not just the obvious damage but the hidden misalignment an impact pushes through the structure. The result is a clear, measured picture of exactly what has moved and by how much.

Frame & chassis straightening

The vehicle is anchored to a heavy-duty straightening bench and brought back to shape with controlled, multi-point hydraulic pulls. Force is applied to the predetermined structural points set out in the manufacturer’s repair guidelines, so chassis rails and cross-members return to their original geometry rather than being forced into a rough approximation.

Structural steel repair & replacement

Where steel is torn, crushed or corroded beyond truing, it is cut out and renewed. We fabricate replacement sections, mounts and supports and weld them in following OEM structural procedures, restoring full strength to frames, body structure and load-bearing areas instead of patching over the damage.

  • Damaged & corroded steel cut out
  • Fabricated replacement sections
  • Welded to OEM procedure

Alignment & verification

Once straightened and rebuilt, the structure is re-measured against spec and the key reference points — chassis rails, cross-members and suspension and steering mounts — are confirmed to manufacturer tolerances. Nothing leaves until the numbers match, so the vehicle is verified sound before it heads for refinishing and return.

  • Re-measured against spec
  • Mounting points verified
  • Signed off before return
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

  • Yes. The vehicle is anchored to a straightening bench and brought back with controlled hydraulic pulls at the manufacturer’s structural points, then re-measured against factory dimensions until it is within tolerance.

  • We measure the frame and body against the manufacturer’s factory dimensions before and after the repair, and confirm chassis rails, cross-members and suspension and steering mounting points match spec before the vehicle is released.

  • Yes. Structural repairs are handled insurer-direct — we prepare the Mitchell estimate, submit it and coordinate approvals and supplements through to completion.

  • Yes. Steel that is torn, crushed or corroded beyond truing is cut out, and we fabricate and weld in replacement sections to OEM structural procedures to restore full strength.

  • Our 32,000 sq-ft shop has drive-in bays and a heavy-duty bench sized for coaches, city buses and longer vehicles. If you are unsure whether your vehicle fits, send us the dimensions and we will confirm.
